20 Photoshoot Locations in Houston Tx and Surrounding Areas
Here I have built a list of Houston photoshoot locations to help you find the perfect scenery for your upcoming photoshoot and/or elopement.
1. Hermann park
First on the list with the beautiful Hermann Park. Address: 6100 Hermann Park Dr, Houston, TX 77030. This park is in the medical district in Houston. The best time to visit is during the spring or fall time. During these seasons you can avoid the summer heat. I also suggest avoiding weekends because usually events take place during the weekend.









2. Downtown Houston
Downtown Houston is a fun and adventurous location to take photos in. If you want to be spontaneous, you can walk around to get different buildings in your photos. This can provide fun and unique photo opportunities.







3. Parking Garage
Saks parking garage is a fun a easy way to include the skyline in your photos without having to walk around through the streets. Address: 1117 Capitol St, Houston, TX 77002. When you enter, your license plates gets signed in and you have to pay for parking through an app, you can create your account using the QR code displayed throughout the parking garage.





4. McGovern Centennial Gardens
This garden located in the Hermann Park area. Address: 1500 Hermann Dr, Houston, TX 77004. It is a beautiful and perfect for a spring photoshoot. It does require a permit which you find more information for it HERE.







6. Historic 1910 Harris County Courthouse
This downtown courthouse is perfect for elegant engagement/couples photoshoots. Location: 301 Fannin St

9. Sabine Street Bridge
As a Houston photographer, Sabine Street Bridge is such a great location for nature lovers. This bridge has the perfect Houston skyline view. It’s a beautiful mix of city and nature, making it ideal for couples who want a little bit of both in their gallery. For the couple down below, they decided to head here for photos during their elopement and even included their fur babies in the session. It made their experience feel so personal. Pawsitive Moments (Wedding Pet Attendants) helped take care of their pups in between shots. They made the whole experience stress-free and enjoyable.





8. Julia Ideson Library
As a Houston photographer, Julia Ideson Library has become one of my favorite places to capture timeless photos. Its beautiful architecture and soft natural light make it perfect for an engagement session or even a romantic elopement. Some couples also choose to visit this library right after getting married at the 1910 Harris County Courthouse, making it a perfect second stop for wedding portraits.



7. Kemah Boardwalk
Kemah Boardwalk is such a fun location to take photos at. Address: 215 Kipp Ave, Kemah, TX 77565. Perfect for those who have children such as this “mommy and me” photoshoot. This location is also great for a fun engagement photos.






10. Eleanor Tinsley Park
Eleanor Tinsley Park (close to Sabine Street Bridge) is gorgeous and spacious. Address: 18-3600 Allen Pkwy, Houston, TX 77019. It is a huge area to take photos so perfect for some exploring. This park requires good walking shoes and extra time set aside to find parking. Parking is limited along the Allen parkway. You might have to go around a few times to find a parking spot.



11. Lumen Room Studio
If you’re trying to avoid the outside heat during the summer, Lumen room is a studio I love to go to for a good “loft” looking location. Address: 800 Sampson St Ste 100, Houston, TX 77003. This studio has several locations, two in Houston, and also several studios in San Antonio, Dallas, and even Austin.








12. Superb Studio
Superb Studio is one of my all time favorite studios. Address: 3420 Rusk St #16, Houston, TX 77003. Perfect for a simple photoshoot or classic headshots.




16. Galveston
Because who doesn’t love a good beach session? Although Galveston, Tx doesn’t have the best water, it is still so fun to take photos there. It can be great for families, birthdays, and or engagement sessions. I even had an elopement on the beach once.





15. Memorial Park
Memorial park is so spacious and beautiful. Address: 6501 Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77007. Full of nature, it can help with having some fun candid photographs



19. Challenger Seven Memorial Park
One of my all time favorite parks to do photos at. Address: 2301 W Nasa Blvd, Webster, TX 77598. The scenery changes throughout the year. Sometimes there’s tall grass or wildflowers and other times it’s just an open field.




18. Theatre District
Theatre Theater district is perfect for a classy engagement photoshoot. The building in these photos is Jones Hall for the Performing Arts. Address: 615 Louisiana St, Houston, TX 77002. The building provides a minimalistic background for photos. Perfect for an engagement or couples photoshoot.



19. Bay Area Park
Bay Area Park is one of my old-time favorites. Address: 7500 Bay Area Blvd, Houston, TX 77058. This park is perfect for a serene and intimate photoshoot along the lake. Also has a small garden area and another area that has beautiful trees with moss hanging from them.





20. 35mm Studio
If you’re looking for another white space studio, the 35mm studio is another one to go to for that minimalistic styled photoshoot. Address: 3902 McKinney St, Houston, TX 77023.




BONUS LOCATIONS:
21. The Strand Historic District
The strand is such a authentic and fun destination to take photos at. Address: 502 20th St, Galveston, TX 77550. The strand is filled with different shops and restaurants. It’s the perfect location for fun and spontaneous photoshoots.





22. Helen’s Garden in League City
Helen’s Garden is such a hidden gem. Address: 701 E Main St, League City, TX 77573. It is a small garden located in League City, Tx. Plan to get there early to find parking as the parking lot they have is extremely limited. Another thing to note about this garden is that they sometimes have private events on weekends and can prevent you from taking photos there. Always have a backup option for this location.



23. The Houston Arboretum and Nature Center
The Houston Arboretum is such a dreamy location for engagement photoshoots in the spring or summer. Address: 120 W Loop N Fwy, Houston, TX 77024. During the Spring and Summer, this park has lots of different flowers blooming.
