Engagement Photos at Captain Foxheart’s Bad News Bar

Recently, bar photoshoots have become extremely popular – and who can blame people for it? Bar photoshoots can add some elegance and personalize the photos a lot more. Which is why I was so excited to take photos for Lisa and Joseph at Captain Foxheart’s Bad News Bar & Spirit Lodge!

The importance of the location

Let’s begin by digging into why the location for your engagement photoshoot is important.

The place where you and your partner decide to take your photos is like the cherry on top of an already delicious ice cream sundae – it adds that extra special touch!

The location sets the vibe for your shoot, whether you’re going for romantic, playful, or totally unique. For example, if you’re all about cozy cuddles, a park with blooming flowers or a studio might be just the right location. But if you’re more into adventure and excitement, maybe an urban setting is more your style! You can read here 3 tips that can help you choose the perfect location for your engagement session.

And as a bonus: if the location holds sentimental value, like where you had your first date or where you love to go for Sunday hangouts, it will make the whole engagement photoshoot experience a whole lot meaningful.

Why Captain Foxheart’s Bad News Bar For This Session?

When Lisa and Joseph inquired for their engagement session, I was not just excited to do a bar photoshoot, but to capture photos at such a special and important place for them.

Over 5 years ago, Lisa and Jospeh had such a meaningful connection that began at the Captain Foxheart Bar – One of the few places they hung out to get to know each other. Being there with them, capturing their love for each other, was so sweet. Not only was it so beautiful to witness but it was also an honor to be let into such an important chapter of their lives.

Lighting inside Captain Foxheart’s Bad News Bar

For those who are wanting to take photos at the Captain Foxheart’s Bad News Bar, it is important to note the level of light in there. If you’re a photographer, get ready to use your flash or any other lighting equipment you have. If you are a client, make sure to inform this to your photographer! Although there is a lack of light in there, with the right equipment, I was able to get some amazing photos around the bar.

Photos Outside Captain Foxheart’s Bad News Bar

To add a variety of sceneries to your engagement session at Captain Foxheart’s Bad News Bar, head on to main street right outside of the bar. This will help create some spontaneous moments to really make sure your gallery is filled with candid shots of you and your partner.

My 3 top favorites from this engagement session

Finally, I would love to share my top three favorite photos from this session.

What I love about the first photo is the focus on the shelves full of liquor in the background really highlighting the location. Also having Lisa and Joseph out of focus gives a sense of privacy.

The second photo was a harder one to get due to the lack of light in the staircase hallway but definitely not a challenge I couldn’t take up. And I’m so glad I didn’t shy away from a low light situation because if definitely became my favorite photo.

As for the last and final photo, I loved being able to capture Lisa and Joseph from a stranger’s point of view. Imagine seeing a couple across the room and being able to see the love they have for each other just by the way they interact.

Lisa and Joseph’s session was such an honor to capture and it definitely taught me why it is so important for couples to carefully chose their engagement session location.
